Hi,

power issue now being resolved, a noise that I thought was possibly aux belt has now become quiet a 'dry bearing' squeel on starting from cold for the first 100m.

I had the timing belt and aux belt changed last September. I suggested that they changed the aux tensioner along with aux belt when changing timing belt. They changed aux belt but said that at 40k the aux tensioner is OK.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks
Malcolm

a squeal that stops is often loose aux belt, it slips a bit warms up then grips. to be expected, it has stretched a bit after being fitted. Get it tightened and see if that cures it.

Get it tightened. Is it a garage job?

Slipping belt was my first thoughts. Tightening the Aux belt? I thought that it was an auto tentioner. Is it an auto-tensioner that is unlocked to apply correct tension and then locked?

From looking at the manual on disc, are special tools required or is there some alternate method?

Never had a prob with the Marea as it is a 1.8 and has the auto tensioner but this happened to the Tempra when I changed the aux belt as a precaution. That was such a pig to reach and get the force on that I used my mates car lift. Is the air con belt OK?
