Seriously thinkin bout buying a '98 Weekend 2.0. Drives very well, 87K and long MOT. Is there anything i should be careful about b4 buying one of these motors??? When does the cam belt need done etc??
Fiat service interval for the cambelt is 72,000 miles.. Nobody would dare leave it that long. Most have it done at 60,000 or even 50,000 to be on the safe side. Make sure all tensioners and waterpump are replaced. Check for wear on the lower arms by jacking up the car and pulling around on the wheel. You can't tell with the weight of the car on it. Also check the air conditioning, tailgate electronics (wiper/squirter/locks/heated windscreen). Any rattles/creaks from the interior? Windows all wind up and down fine? How about where the doors seal, any signs of wear through the paint on the chassis? Sunroof? If so check for damp patches on the headligning.
Think I've covered everything to do with the car itself.. just need someone with experience with the 2.0 20v now
