My Father in law has a Marea weekend 105 JTD

I borrowed it the other day and noticed that it was driving poorly. It was as though the turbo was not boosting. The car was still making good progress however there was No torque. if you used the revs it would pick up speed but if you were to change up a gear and put your foot down then it was dead in the water. :(

I visually checked and did some tests, the engine and Turbo do not give off any blue smoke. Nor does the engine give off any black.
Also the engine does not use any oil.
There are no fault lights.
The maff was replaced. top end revs, the engine is spot on.

Yesterday I removed the intercooler and removed the pipework from turbo, boost side. All the way to the induction manifold.
I found that the hose clip on the pipe entering the intercooler was loose and thus leaking pressure. Whilst at it I visually checked the intercooler, pipes and turbo for faults. ALL ok.

I took the car out again and although it is much much better. It is only pulling from around 2200rpm.

I would have expected pull from around 1600-1700 rpm

Any ideas or Opinions?
Could it be poor fuelling?

EGR?

could this be defective without other symptoms such as a rough idle?

Yes, idle / tickover set up is separate to running and boost set up.

A clean of the EGR can fix it, sometimes temporarily and replacement may be best.

Needs proving first tho...

It happened to my JTD 130. Cleaned and soaked the EGR in carb cleaner for 2 hours and it was a different animal!! so i'd say you have a 95% chance that is the prob. I had trucks overtaking me on the motorway when i first bought it!

I think a boost pipe has gone now as there's a loud woooosh but no power plus a misfire at about 2000rpm.............:bang:
