I have a '98 Marea 1.8 16V which has run well for the 2-3 years I have owned it.

Just before Christmas I was driving uphill with a pretty low tank and it started missing. It has missed ever since - basically its only running on 3 pots.

I thought it had dragged some **** out of the bottom of the fuel tank and blocked an injector. However the injector lamp on the dash hasn't come on and I've run some cleaning fluid through with no benefit.

Any ideas?

The exhaust front box has started blowing pretty badly and its £150 to get a new one - but MOT is due this month so not sure if its worth spending the money without solving this first.

Probably irrelevant but the only history of any problems before I got the car is it had a new ECU about 4 years ago (24000 miles ago).

hiya im having the same sort of problems that you are, i managed to get the front flexipipe for 70 pounds from a car part shop but still need to replace or clean injector number three . i can source the injector for 100 pounds per unit but am wondering if a good clean of the injector will cure the problem.
How did you get on with yours?

Turned out it was a lesson in always checking the simple stuff first!

I got some injector cleaner fuel additive which didn't make a damn of difference.

By disconnecting the plugs alternately I identified it was the third cylinder that wasn't firing. I swapped injectors in order to prove it was the injector - however turned out it wasn't!

So I swapped plugs - still nothing. So I did what I should have done first and checked for a spark - no spark on 3rd plug - leads were the problem! The low fuel and hill was a red herring.

There are a few guys on ebay breaking mareas so I'm getting a cheap exhaust from one of them. They are selling bits cheap if you message them - try getting an injector here if you need it?

Which have wires or leads going to them..

I don't know the correct terminology but this was the problem

If you want to be pedantic it's the low tension (LT) lead. the system is coil per cylinder as you say. Thanks for the heads up on this potential problem on the otherwise very reliable 1.8
