Waiting in line to board the ferry for the hols. Let's go - let's not! Full battery, but no starter motor, and the key feels funny, and there is an annoying sound of honking cars behind me. Goddamn!

I'll freeze me bum off while the AA guy has a look to see everything is okay, but that key just won't turn the whole way. So now I've got a car that looks like it's been hotwired, and I think the best thing to do with an ignition barrel with a broken spring stop is to replace the whole thing.

2 questions:

1. Does anyone know where I could get reasonable used parts in Ireland?
2. Do I remove the tumbler section, put my old one into the new barrel? I don't want to mess around with new keys, and any code reprogramming.

NCT (MOT) is just around the corner, and I think they might just spot this fault! lol

Hi Joe. I have the sticking key problem on my ignition but I haven't got your 'broken' problem. It seems you might have forced it.

On the Marea w/e that I've had for over 5 years now I had a problem 'off and on' with not been able to turn the key. I learned not to panick and kept at jocking the wheel and fiddling with the key until it turned . I often wondered if it was a worn key or a worn iginition.

Sorry I cann't help you on what's involved in getting it changed. I would dred to thing what's involved in getting it changed given the special Red key and all that.
