Hi guys,

I have a set of Marea handles which I am going to respray (because they are the wrong colour)

So, the questions:
1. Should I strip the existing paint or just spray over? They are dark green and they are being sprayed black. Also, if I am to spray over the green, do I still need primer?

2. What is the best procedure for spraying? I.e. primer, sanding, number of coats, lacquer, etc?

3. How easy is it to change the lock barrels? Any tips?

Heres to hoping I can get them on before Donny! :)
Many thanks,

Martin

In regards to the locking barrells, just have a look under the Modding section mate - lets you know how to do it there :)

Oh, and some people sand the rib that runs along the front - you might prefer it without :)

listen mate id just take the to a paint shop cos they are gunna get the most use than anything on your car and really need to be durable and the only realy durable paint is a 2pac with thinner n lacquer top coat.

Cheers guys!

Duh! I totally forgot about the guide in the3 modding section, cheers!
Yeh I am going to sand the ridge off it, will look miles better I think.
As for getting a bodyshop to do it, thats not a bad idea. I take your point about being used a lot!
Thanks,

1.
sand the existing paint down so its smooth. apply about 4 coats of 'plastic' primer (leaving a gap of 10mins between coats)

2.
then around about 15 even coats of paint
(again with 10min gap between coats)

3.
then as many coats of lacquer as you can be arsed with. i did around 15.

4.
to smooth the surface over use some 2000 wet and dry wet lightly and enjoy!

i only did 1-3 but apprently 4 will make them a better finish. if you look up close my handles arent as nice as the rest of the cars paint, but doesnt stick out.

i am getting the hole car sprayed soon anyway.

i`ve used satin black paint on mine,

4 layers of primer
sanding down in between

6 layers of satin paint
sanding down lightly every two layers

result lookin sweet as always, de-locked both sides, (remote lockin) and no laquer needed

Bravo, why settle for less 1.8GT BRAVO
