Technical marea automatic transmission cooling fan

hello,
i live in israel ,very hot these days&have marea elx 1999 automatic ,160k k"m.
the a.t is original no reconstruction done yet.
i'm trying to avoid the reconstruction of my marea's a.t which makes some trouble - a.t. red light blinks,& i fill slipping of a.t.
i find (while car was working on lift in gargae) that the cooling fan (which cheked to be o.k) do not work.
could forumember tell :
when does it work? what gives the trigger to the fan ?could it be connected to a constant 12v in hot places ,any advice?

the transmission does not have a cooling fan. it is cooled by pumping oil around the transmission. check your oil level, and replace the oil if it has not been replaced recently because old oil is less viscous, which reduces the oil pressure, making it circulate less effectively.
