Marea 2.4jtd Air-con unit...

Hey chaps,

Would the 2.4jtd air-con unit be the same on any brav?
or would it have to be a specific jtd one?

I need a new one as the bearings are shot and the downpipe has been sheared off.
Have been quoted £160 for a re-con one plus £150 fitting!

I think I could fit it but don't want to pay silly money for it.

The JTDs and 1,2 alos (I think) have a spiral compressor and the other have piston ones - so you should look for one that has come off them.

So I'm looking for a 1.2?

that makes it much easier due to the scrapper having a few 1.2's lying around.
This would still run off the same belt and and brackets I suppose (ie, same size compressor)

I ask because the only place I can get one at the moment is 40miles away and they need me to take the compressor off, obviously if I take it off I can't drive it!

I think I might just take my car to the scrapper and match it up

Sorry mixed some things, you are talking about the 2,4 marea engine, then the used compressor wont fit the 1,9 JTD bravo

This is the marea compressor range.

Just an addition.

I have now removed the anti-roll bar rubber mounts after removing the NINE SCREWS holding it in place!
Removed one side and the bar just slid across the car!

Managed to get some mondeo rubbers and cut them down to size as the only place was Fiat and they would only seel the whole bar for £120!
Is great to drive now, doesnt feel like the wheels are sliding sideways.

Anywho....

If I was to get a different air con unit which would fit the bracket and belt would I be doing any damage?
The one for the 2.4jtd is expensive but sure I could get a different type to attach.
As I said would I cause any damage to the actual air con or car by putting a different unit on the car?
