hello everyone this is my first post to this excellent forum and i hope someone can help me. my fiat was driving as normal when i pulled up in a car park to go to a shop when i returned and started the car up it started fine i put it into reverse and started backing up, the engine then started to die on me and cut out, i tried to start it again and it did but would not pick up any revs, and eventually cut out again, it would not start again after that and i got it towed home,there was plenty of fuel in it so could not of run out of petrol
any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Can you hear the fuel pump whirrling when you turn on the electrics, before you start it?

most likely fault is the TDC/Crank sensor, usually the cause of these "it did work" faults, try starting it from cold and see if it will start, if it does, try a new TDC/Crank sensor (or ask me, i have a spare you can try it with)

all sorted guys i had caught the fuel knock off switch under the passenger seat when adjusting it pressed it once and fired straight up god knows how i caught it but all running sweet again...thanks alot for all your help
