hello!
marea 1.6 automatic '160000 k"m.

problem:
the car gearbox would'nt forward to 4th gear level .
the red transmission warning light is blinking ,than when stopping the car moves heavily.
when starting the engine and limiting the gear lever to 3 the car runs smoothly and no red light blinking .(good for city )
the trans' liquid is clean& pink (not black)
question:
could someone tell , is it inside the gearbox or "lighter" problem
thanks
moni

I have come across a similar problem with the auto gearbox light flashing. It occurs after running car for a few minutes or less then selecting park. The light then flashes.
It can be reset by switching off for a few minutes and starting up again. In this instance the self diagnosis system could exclude the fault, but it will be stored in the electronic control device. If the fault will not clear, you should drive as if you are in a manual car, but the gearbox in fault mode works as below:

1st gear - lever at 1
3rd gear - lever at 2
4th gear - lever at 3
4th gear - lever at D

If the fault does not clear then you may well have to allow FIAT to plug in their diagnostics and find out what the problem is.

It is NOT overheating as the light does not flash when this occurs, but remains on constantly.
