Mare 1.6

Hi All - I'm having a problem with my wife's Fiat Marea 1.6 16v.

The engine management recently came on and after various descriptions of what the engine sounded like when this happened I narrowed it down to a damaged plug lead - a new set and an ECU reset later and the car is running well again - engine light out.

However the car will sometime idle slightly too fast even when warm - 1200rpm - it doesn't hunt at this speed and it will eventually return to normal - 800 rpm of it's own accord.

Short of a diagnostic, does anyone have any ideas of what to check?

i did report this message a few days ago, as in the Marea section you'd more likely to get a response, but the powers that be decided this section was evidently more appropiate.

Hi All,

have now changed the plugs too after a reappearance of the engine management light - fingers crossed it has not come on again.
Strange when it did come on the car appeared to be running normally and continued to do so but something must have caused it.

Still have the slight revving problem.
