Hey all,

I want to install some Maplin LED strips into the front footwells (driver and passenger) of my Seicento Sporting.

A friend has told me that all I need to do is connect one end of the strip into the ignition (splicing through the electric windows / cigarette lighter), is he right? If he is right, it will be really easy to install them so I hope he is!
Thanks all,
Wheeless.

Really depends when you want them on, with interior light, switched, etc.

They don't consume a lot of power, but at least an inline fuse would be a good idea.

I'd like them on whenever the ignition is on but I'd like to wire a single on/off switch on the driver's side which will turn control both footwell lights.

Ye, electric windows etc will be fine. Just spice live to inline fuse (3amp or so) on to switch, from switch to lights then neutral or ground (whatever you want to call it) to an earth point. There are a few earths under the dash.

Have the LEDs got a separate driver (power supply) or are they straight to 12v.
Only reason I ask is the drivers consume a bit more power than just straight LEDs, if so check on consumption. You don't want to pop a fuse if you use the windows while the lights are on.

Oh, just a granny sucking eggs comment. Disconnect your battery or pull the fuse out of the circuit you working on first. Just in case. Remember bangs and flashes set fire to dashes.

Straight to 12V I believe. Is the black wire connected to the electric window switch an earth? (there's a white, a purple, a black and a red/yellow. The red/yellow is earth but I don't know the rest).
