First and foremost, what an awesome site guys(y)

Second, Can anyone help? The outside temp display on my 97 Marea ELX weekend has gone AWOL. A few days ago the I checked the outside temp as you do and it flashed up as normal however it was displaying the outside temp as
50 C? Its worth mentioning at this point that I live in South Wales and not on the african equator.

Obviously the reading is wrong, any ideas what the cause of the fault is? Also whilst Im here, Ive lost my red key, Ive had copies done by cloning the blue key at Timpson for £25.00, so Ive still have a spare that works. Does the red key have any other special features I need to be aware of that the blue ones dont?

Hi and welcolme to the forum. Sounds like a faulty sensor somewhere or its got knocked off its position and it touching something hot! Sure someone else will be able to help as i've no clue as to where it is.

On the keys question you'll find most of your answers here:

Unfortunatly as you've not got the red key its not so simple, but not the end of the world, worth reading and knowing how it might afect the car in the future and what you'll be able to do about it if it does.

outside air temp sensor is in the driver's side wing mirror. give the wing mirror a tap and see if that helps. you can remove the sensor and check its resistance changes with temp, also check the connector is clean and dry and secure (use a bit of wd40 on it). it is also easily replaced with a scrapyard part but few models will have the sensor fitted so finding one may be difficult.

not having a red key means you cant program any blue keys into the immob ever again, and if your blue keys codes are 'lost' then you have no working keys. the chances of code loss are very small so its not worth worrying about.

I had almost given up on this one, :bang: until my battery died (after a few weeks of getting by with jump starts). I changed it for a new one and hey presto, the outside temp display has fixed itself and displays perfectly sensible readings at my beck and call. :D I wonder if the problems were related to the battery going flat? Anyone?

sorry,dun-no but i get a funny display sometimes when the outside temp is around 5-degrees or lower, the temp reading drops slowly in sets of around -3 untill it gets to -30 the displays, error cli ,and stays on that till ignition switched off and back on, can anyone help ? * bill @ shrewsury, ta
