Hi all

Apologies for my ignorance as I dont have a manual yet.
Have only had the car less than a month, Got this ropey drive and cutting out whil driving, some have said about the MAF, and that if I unplug it and drive the car it may show the sensor is at fault.....Where is the sensor located,:bang: what does it look like (n) and I will try this...

Ta

Hi

This is a TD

Thanks

Hi Just as an update: I have put it in for a diag test at my basingstoke FIAT dealership, they quoted £67.00 incl VAT for a 45 min check.....didnt think that was too bad. Still wanna buy my own tester though, trying to find one is like turning rice-crispies into cash:rolleyes:

1st they wanted to know what the problem was, flat spots on acceleration, lumpy drive, power loss, to put them in the ballpark.
According to the service manager i spoke to this morning.
They will connect the FIAT diag code reader/tester, run & stop the car for 45 mins extensive test, hopefully they will find perhaps one of these sensors on the blink.

Hi all.
This is the shot from my Marea Weekend 1.9 TD100 engine bay.
Showing the air cleaner and the 'lack of' an AFM that should appear after cleaner box!!!! Just maybe its hiding some-where else.

Hi all.
This is the shot from my Marea Weekend 1.9 TD100 engine bay.
Showing the air cleaner and the 'lack of' an AFM that should appear after cleaner box!!!! Just maybe its hiding some-where else.

And so the conclusion....................
After FIAT's quick look over and diag test, they suspected the AFM...
and wanted, get this..... £408.00 parts & Labour:mad: .

I bought one from www.airflowmeters.com for £50 with 3yr waranty and got it fitted for £80 total £130, big difference.(y)
The car runs excellent.

The AFM (not the MAF as I originally quoted was down at the lower end of air intake pipe, not near the air filter box. I inspected the original AFM and the sensor component looked like it had been covered in soot, so make sure you all regularly change your airfilters, or else.
So its off to Devon for weeks break in this car after all:)

Hi Toad
Yeah good point, here's the pic of the uncleaned AFM, its a little sooted. Im gona carefully clean it with carb cleaner take off the new one and reconnect the old cleaned one, if it works ok with none of the original flats on acceleration, ebay is a good option for a £20, and its a Bosch(y)

hey matkinso, if it works fine i'll give you 20 quid, think we have had the same problem!! let me know, dan

So the TD do have a MAF/AFM afterall! I didn't think they were so advanced!

I'm guessing it was down the air pipe somewhere between the turbo and the air filter?

There is a guide on the Fiat Boo site on cleaning your sensor. Oh if you want to make yourself feel better after spending that £50 - check out the price of a Smart MAF ;)

hi, any chance you could take a pick of where your AFM was? thanks

Was there any fault codes at all on the diagnostic ?. the MAF must have been behaving fairly badly to do this..

Owen.

Hi all,

Yes, The Marea TD100 has MAF sensor under the Battery.
There is between the turbo and the air temperature sensor.
And, if you unpluged this MAF sensot the ECU will be working in a emergency program and it will calculate the value from another sensors.

Hi all,

I am trying to connect an ODB reader on a Marea WE JTD110 (july 2001).
Do you know where is the plug ? As many of you, I try to by pass the FIAT diag cost (50€ in france) to know why some orange lights show up sometimes.

Thanks
