I am looking to get into detailing in my spare time and i reckon i will need a machine polisher, which i know very little about. i know how to give a car a good clean, polish and wax by hand but have never used a machine polisher before, and i think this is what i need next to achieve better results.

is this an ok deal, or is it crap. As i have seen other models vary from 140 to 200 pounds. As said i dont know alot about these, i noticed in the above advert that the speed is adjustable, but have i missed anything.

any advice would be appreciated.

thanks in advance. (y)

it dont say it has a soft start, you need one with soft start

The orange Silverline rotary has softstart but not actually 100% essential it's nice to have/ Electronic speed control is also very useful to maintain a constant speed when pressure is applied but to get this requires quite a big spend. The rotary posted would be ok to start with. My rotary cost £20 and is sufficient for the amount I use it.

Looks like a Matika rotary.

You can buy that then go scrappy and get a couple of panels to practise on.

Oh and personally i would use different pads.

For an absolute novice I would streach that few pound more and go for the new kestral DA

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/kestrel-das-6-dual-action-polishing-machine-polish.html

I bought one of these as a secondary machine to use with 80mm spot pads and use on plastic bumpers and wings etc etc and thight spots
You will have less chance of damaging your paint work with it than a rotary.

I have both and it has taken me 1 year to master the rotary and something like 10 cars.... the DA is much much safer and can do the exact same job as the rotary even if it is a bit slower at breaking down the compounds.....

here is a full rotary guid of use and is very good advise

and here is 1 for a DA

hope this helps you out
