I love the Peugeot 205 GTi and have since about age 8. I have been lusting over them today and am thinking of buying one after Uni to replace my GP. (Maybe I'm just crazy, probably)
But anyway I was looking at insurance quotes for my current position to see what It'd cost if I got one now and I've established it'd cost me less than my kinda slow GP :/

The GP cost me £4k to buy and costs me (and my generous Mother) £3028 to insure for my first years driving) I've been driving 6 months so have yet to get any notable NCB. However I went to insure a 1.9 (considerably more power and more likelihood for me to kill myself) 205 GTi, the car costs £1250 and with 6 months experience but no NCB and the exact same conditions as I was in with my first quote on the GP I got quoted £2800 for the 205 GTi.
-_- :bang:
I hate insurance companies, I don't see how its £200 cheaper to insure a car that has 130hp than my 77hp GP. Even though yes now the quote has SOME experience on it, I would still expect it to cost more than my Punto.

Serious lust for the 205 now..... soon..... After Uni when I am able to repair it every 5 minutes when it goes wrong....
:tempt:

The 1.6 is actually a better car. Much lighter so the steering is better, better gearbox and much more fun to drive. I may actually no somebody who will let his go if you want me to have a word. It does need some aTLC but any car is likely to need a little bit of work.

Can't afford to buy/insure/tax/service two cars and I'd rather get my first year over in the Punto so I have a years no claims.

A lot of people say the 1.6 is the one to go for but I'm not bothered which, it only has about 15 less horsepower. I just find the 1.9 is more common so easier to find.

EDIT: According to carfolio.com (never used it before so no idea if it has the right stats) the 1.9 weighs 25kg less than the 1.6.
