Bloody hell craig. A real post code lottery. At 18 with 3points and no ncb the Selecta cost me £1280.04 (can't believe I remeber the 4p lol) FULLY COMP! They then charged a further £40 in Sept to transfer to the Sisley and a change of term time address. Renewal back last month with 1 years ncb on the Sisley was £580 fully comp.

That's with Endsleigh on a student policy, who on both occasions of getting quotes under cut the next cheapest by £350+

Jon.

Sooooo, just to get this right back on topic after inadvertantly causing massive thread disruption:

Jeni (Mark also by the sounds of things!): When fitting these springs, did you re-use all the metal and rubber parts (retainers) on the top and bottom of the springs or just not use any or some for any reason? Just curious as you could fit without.

I removed my old suspension a week or so ago now and I think I may have lost the front bottom rubber spring retainer (number 6 in the attched picture).

Have you got one on yours?

The two I recently lowered did not have that part! Is that not the plastic spacer used on the drivers side on rhd 903cc pandas to bring the car level when just a driver on board.

Everything that came off the car went back on, including the rubber and metal spring cap thingy's, though they were only on the top of the springs as the lower spring plate seems to have the moulding for the spring to sit in, where as im not sure if the top does, maybe if you dont use the rubbermetalthingy's the spring would sit at a jaunty angle ?

I think you may be right about the spacer theory. This is what I thought because the part has 'GD' written in the comments part (RHD in ePer land).

I think it would be a good idea since the engine helps to balance out a driver on the LHD cars, but serves to increase an imblance in a RHD car. Strange though as I don't remember seeing one on all my Pandas I've had, but you wouldn't look, would you?

I think you are right. The spring will sit fine on the strut without anything and not puting in the rubbermetalthingy's would probably cause issues, although they would make the car lower!

How low are you going then? You really gonna cut your springs? You're gonna have a mobile tyre buffing factory.

Ive already cut a coil out of baz's lowered springs a while a go - it has made full lock rather scrubby, though he's still not low enough for me, i need wheels that tuck under the arches better before i can go any lower - the panda originally posted in the vid is no longer mine and had the standard lowered springs fitted - nowt taken owt and all that !!

Hey all.
After much debating with a friend, I've decided to lower my Panda.
But unfortunately, we don't have a clue on how easy or hard it can be.

Can you just cut the springs down to the required height, or do you have to be a bit more mechanical than that? :yum:

If anyone knows, it'd be great to hear back from you soon :).

Rhys

Re: lowering

Always found jamex springs to be rock hard on other cars. This coulped with the light weight of the panda could make them very bouncy.

Only ever tried PI springs in a saxo but they were cut to match the height of the torsion bar. So Im not sure how hard they are.
