Hello. I have gotten myself a 2008 Grande Punto sport T-jet with some mods.
A VL36 turbo from an Abarth
Ragazzon exhaust fully except the cat
And has a remap.
So currently the car has been taken care of only problem it has is a cracked hot side on the turbo. Personally with that in mind I haven’t driven the car much. Talked to my mechanic to see it. But what’s more important until I wait for it I have noticed the car has a very loud whistling sound of the turbo say 2000+ rpm. Doesn’t smoke, doesn’t use oil, and seems to handle the boost quite good. The car is currently sitting at 180 hp with 280 nm driven only on 100 octane.
I’m kinda worried by this whisle as that’s too loud for me, think of it a jet engine whisle. High pitched. What has been done is the car has a pop off filter for the swoosh stututu sound I guess but I want to remove that and return it to factory except with a proper cone filter. Now I have heard that since the crank case gas part is open that I should hear more of it but for me still too much. My mechanic said that the turbos of those do make quite a lot of noise when tuned as he just upgraded a MiTo with the same stuff and sounds like a jet engine too. Still not as calm as I wish to be but maybe someone here can give more inside of that.
