Hello guys,

when I turn all the wheel from one side to the other I hear a knock sound, very loud. I also feel a slight vibration under my feet.

So I've inspected the steering inner tie rod and it seems to me that the the nearside rod is the culprit.
When the wheel is turned, if I put my hand on the rod I can feel a shake like it was struck with a hammer.
Can be the ball joint on the inner side of the rod, or can be a problem of the pinion/steering rack ?

Have you checked the suspension wishbone?
The rear mount of the wishbone is near your feet, so a bush or balljoint problem can be felt there.

It's hard to tell sometimes. My 2000 sei (70k miles) has a knocking sound when dry steering. I replaced the inner and outer tie rods and the noise is still present. But I did see a big improvement in the steering! Inner and outer rods and ends don't cost too much about £40? So it might be worth doing anyway.

You can match the length of the old setup if you do them all at once. I always find i have to do the other side a year later anyway.

Could well be a wishbone bush though. I'm just living with the noise for now as its only when dry steering with my car.

I'm going to check my wishbone bushes though! I have checked ball joints.

is a top mount siezing?
If its a loud bang it could be one of the springs "jumping" when the tourque on the spring makes the top mount jerk, rather than run smoothly as it should
jack it up and get someone to hold the spring when you turn the steering - they will feel the spring jump.

Good point. I know my last Cinq had new top mounts before i got hold of it.

Will prob help OP too.
