Technical Loud clunk with driver electric window

Drivers window is making some nasty and loud "clunking" noises when moved up and down - sounds like something plastic has broken. It actually all works fine, but I sense it's on borrowed time.

Car is a 1.1 Active Eco from 2010.

I've removed the trim card from inside, but couldn't readily see anything "wrong", though I did only have a short period of time at the weekend to play around with it. At first glance, working inside the metal frame of the window looks like it would be tricky in any event.

Any steers as to where to start and what might have gone awry?

I had the same problem with my 500 and it was a plastic clip on the regulator that had broken and the clunk was a metal part of the regulator pushing against the glass.

As you mentioned, it is on borrowed time. I would look to sort it now before the winter sets in.
The clips are only a couple of ££ but need a little skill to install. Alternatively a complete regulator is about £40 and is pretty easy to fit once the door trim is off.

Cheers both. Any guides to what I can or should be looking for? I presume once the trim is off, there's no better access to inside the metal door frame (i.e. the door isn't made of two separate removable panels?

I got the trim off, but it remained connected via the opening mechanism - is it fairly easy to disconnect that too so that I can have a better look?

its ok as long as its still actually working.
once the door card is off, you have to carefully strip back the plastic. there is 1 plastic clip that connects to the window, an electrical connector for the motor and the bolts that hold the regulator to the door (there are 2 or 3).
lift the window up by hand and slide the regulator unit and out and inspect it.

its not too bad to do.

forgive me for jumping in on this topic but I have the same issue with my 100 hp. Being 'technically challenged' any idea how long a competent garage would take to fix this, either with the plastic clip or new regulator? I see the regulator and motor are available on ebay at around £38. Many thanks, Tim

New regulator is the safest bet. I would say a garage should be able to do it in about an hour.

Not sure what garages charge as I do everything myself, but I would guess you would pay around £80-£100 for parts and labour?

I replaced the regulator on my 500 in around an hour. Don't see why a Panda shouldn't take a similar amount of time.
One problem I did have was the plug for all the wires was in a different place so I had to extend the speaker cables to get everything working.
