General Lost Keys

Does anybody have any advice, lost my only key for a V reg Ducato maxi van. Fiat say the only way round it is total new locks etc at cost of £1000 as immobiliser on fuel pump. Say new key cannot simply be coded even after I take the V5, chassis number to them etc. Thanks in advance!!

Do a search on red keys and immobiliser problems. You can get the fuel pump modded so that the immobiliser doesn't work and that will cost under £100. So all you will need is new barrels.

sounds a bit strange not to be able to get hold of a key. a lot of manufactuers keep spare keys from when they are made so i would ask the dealers about this ,maybe have to get one from italy but would be a lot cheaper.bmw for example make 10 keys ,3 are given to the dealer and 7 are stored in munich just incase you need a new one.
