when i drive in a low gear at low speed at about 1300 rpm my car seems to chug and never have much power does this mean i have water in my fuel tank or are my glow/spark plugs needing changed ?

any help would be appreciated

i have a 1.2 petrol

Yes, but there is more than one kind of 1.2 petrol engine! :bang:

Look. you come on here. asking for help, and give us very little information. Then you respond to a question by giving as little information as you possibly can!

Maybe you're some poor little student struggling for help with an exam.

But, if there is no ECU warning light on, give the car a full service. Plugs, ignition leads, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter (if a service item).

If the ECU light is on, get the codes read.

Manufacturer: FIAT
Model: GRANDE PUNTO HATCHBACK 1.2 Active 3dr
Horsepower: 65bhp
Model Year: 2008
Colour: GREY
Transmission: Manual
Engine Size: 1200cc

ive changed all that, myself, i am not a struggling student, i was just wondering if anyone else could suggest something else to help me because to me it seems as if my car is totally ****ed

oh and i read the codes before posting this thread!

Because the problem is so specific and you not explained it very well it's hard to say if what you have is a problem or just a characteristic of the car.

When you say low gear, what gear?
When you say low speed, how slow?
Any other circumstances being on a hill, roundabout etc etc

You had the codes read what did they say (if anything)
How long have you had the car, what's the mileage on it.
Seems a bit extreme to proclaim your car is totally ****ed for the sake of a bit of chugging

Suggest you stop spoon feeding information on to the forum and properly explain what's been going on,

Based on what you've posted so far we can rule out being grey as part of the problem (two can play the facetious game)

right the last couple of days in has happened in every gear now and the speed is no longer an issue it is happening at all different speeds from 10 mph to the fastest im willing to go in the car at 95 mph

the codes didnt say anything at all so apparently everythings fine :s
i have had the car 2 1/2 nearly 3 years and this is the first time this has happened in the last month or so. the car has 33,400 miles on the clock and is used daily to travel to work the majority of my driving is motorway driving with some inner city driving and the problem seems to arise after a long stint on the motor way roughly 10+ miles when i come off and stop at traffic lights then go to pull away. being on a hill or at a roundabout or traffic lights does really affect it because it happens at all the above. i have a funny feeling it may be the clutch thats playing up and it may need to be changed other than that i can only think i may have ruptured a piston or something more major inside the engine.

It will be something fairly minor.

If clutch is slipping then engine speed will increase, but ground speed (as it were) will increase much more slowly.

I'd expect rather better mileage from a clutch than that, though.

If coolant levels are OK, I'd look at coolant temperature sensor and MAP sensor.

There are code readers out there that can record "live" information from the ECU, rather than wait for it to flag up an error.

ok well i'll take it to the dealer i bought it from and get them to do all that cause its under warranty so if it is something minor then they can fix it but ill let them know about the MAP sensor and ask them to check the ECU, heres hoping its not something more major.
cheers for your help mate much appreciated

Try getting the engine to turn at a higher speed by shifting to a lower gear. 1300 RPM is far below the horsepower and torque peaks. The fact that you have a small engine like 1200 cm3 only makes things worse because it just doesn't have very much to give.
