Hi All,

I'm hoping you can help.

Abut 3 months ago when doing a check on my car, I found my coolant to be near the min mark, I topped up and checked again for next couple of weeks and it seemed fine. When checking the other day it was rght down again. I would say I had to put about 100ml in. Is this normal? I do a lot of miles - about 250 a week, so I had prob done about 3000 miles for that 100ml?

Also bit of extra info I had water pump and cambelt changed in Nov.

Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

when i did my timing belt and water pump change , the mechanic show me that the coolant is leaking from the water pump with obvious red colour dye around it .

Had you just been driving the car when you checked it recently?

I've noticed the coolant levels go up and down on many of my fiats depending on whether the engine is hot or cold etc.

You shouldn't loose coolant at all, regardless whether you lose it over 30mins or 30 days. The coolant system is an air tight, presurised system so there are no ways for the coolant to leak, unless there is a fault.

TBH, the amount you have lost is probably no cause for concern at the moment but it could be an early sign of a leak somewhere in the system.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

I had to have the AA out on a seperate issue last night (wiper blades) and mentioned it to him. He could not see a leak but did say he thought it could be early stages of head gasket and recommended I put K Seal in, what are thoughts on this? Thanks
