Looking to buy a 500 2016 duologic tomorrow having a panic now as not very good reviews about the auto version. Most say avoid.
I have an auto micra and would drive in fully auto mode.
Please help.
Thanks.

Can’t afford new. I wanted a 500 for the look of it but if the gearbox is going to be a problem I won’t. I’ve looked around for a few weeks now and have arranged a test drive tomorrow. It’s a long drive so didn’t want to go if it’s not a good buy. Anyone own one and drive in fully auto mode?
Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I'd suggest you read this thread before making any committments.

I wanted a 500 for the look of it.

And those cutesy looks account for a large part of the price you pay for a 500. Compare the cost of an equivalent model Panda and you'll see what I mean.

I'd agree with John; a 500 is one of those cars perhaps better bought new and traded away when the warranty runs out. If your budget won't stretch to a pcp on a new one, it almost certainly won't cover the cost of running a used one.

Noone can tell you if your contemplated secondhand purchase will be a good car or a lemon, but with a dualogic 500, you definitely will be stacking the deck against you. Be aware that if you do run into transmission problems, there are few easy fixes and repairs will be in the thousands, not hundreds.

I wouldn't touch a dualogic even if it were new. Get a manual transmission or have a look at a make and model with a better automatic transmission.

An option maybe to buy an extended warranty but if you do buy an auto and a aftermarket warranty make ABSOLUTELY SURE it covers the entire gearbox AND the control of it including parts and labour?
Note whilst it's an auto the car still has a (manual style) clutch and this would be considered a wearing part and usually not covered.
