General looking to buy a Merea, advice needed...

Hi guys, not really new on here, but its been so long that i could not remember my username OR password!!! use to own a Punto HLX, but now looking to buy a cheap-ish runabout & for some reason have always fancied a Merea.

So, there are quite a few around at rock bottom prices, most common seem to be 1'6 petrols & the 1'9 TD (i suspect thats the old TD unit & not the JTD?) I'm open to saloon or estate (sorry Weekend!). & i once owned a Brava so i know generally about the cars, but anything in paticular i should watch out for, also what about,timing belts, stuff like that??

The weekend looks nicer IMHO and is not much more than the saloon. TheWeekend does need it's tailgate greasing, but not hard to do, see archives. The 1.6 is more capable than you would expect, the injectors seem to be a problem though but cheap if you can find them at a scrappie. The diesels seem to wear out the front suspension quicker than petrols

hi mucca i just got a jtd sx marea fsh and we just love it .it goes so fast with a great sound as well......you'll love every minute of it..
