Looking at getting a bravo 1.6 16v trofeo just wondering if any has got one and what they like. Is it hard to get modifying parts for them and what is the performance and MPG like?

By the way got a 96 (P) Reg Punto GT for sale 1.4 Turbo
Red, SS exhaust and a Piper X induction kit couple others. 86,000 miles
E-Mail me at [email protected] Northeast area. Too see a pic go to www.wasteofonlinespace.com and look under Ian's.
£2850ono.

Alright Briggsy.

The bravo 1.6 is a good engine. The only draw back speed wise is the gear box and the fact that it uses quite high ratios.

This makes them great on petrol though.

Where abouts are you from in the North east any where near leeds/wakefield?

I've also got a 1.6 16v Bravo, HLX model. Thats the only problem I have with the engine as well, the high gearing. 1st gear through to 3rd is quite quick, but in 4th and 5th gears its a bit sluggish when you put your toe down. I tend to rev it upto 4,500 -5,000 RPM in 3rd a lot to build the speed up before I change into 4th and 5th. (Feel a bit guilty doing this all the time).

I'm not too sure about mods performance wise for the 1.6. All I've done to mine is fitted a Sebring exhaust and a K&N Air filter, as well as the Arbarth Side skirts and Rear bumper spolier. Just about to buy a front bumper spoiler, but not sure which one to buy.

Overall, I'm happy enough with the car.

Re: Re: looking for some info.

1. I live in a place called shotton near Durham and Sunderland area. Where you from?
It looks like I'm going to get the bravo.

By the way why do you feel guilty fo doing 5,000 rpm in 3th gear my punto liked to go to 6,000+ rpm in 4th gear as-well been close to this mark in 5th only once.

What do the likes of superchips do to them any one done this.

Re: Re: Re: looking for some info.

Are there a lot of people on this site from the northeast?
Or
Is this site the same as the punto site where everyone is down south way?

Good Little Motor

I've got a '99 1.6SX that i've had from new...
Great car, great engine (for a 1.6) no real problems to report... had a new clutch (due to meeting my bird and letting her start driving it), new C.V. joint on the passenger side (due to A Roads) and had the Cam belt changed at 60,000... It's just about to hit 70k at 3 years old and it's been fine so far, a few rattles but it is a fiat...

Things to look out for if you're buying one...
Change the Cam belt (and tensioners etc.) at 60k not the advised 72k.
Make sure it has a red key - but you probably know that one.. ! :)
Rear wiper has a habbit of seizing... due to the washer tube coming off and leaking onto the motor, so if you hear a ticking noise or it starts stopping check the tubing...

The gearing is a bit off, but it's a Fiat engine so you know how to drive it ;)

I get 30mpg even if I thrash the arse off it, economy is good for mixed driving, great on the motorway, not so good in lots of stop-start traffic...

Only two bodykits to speak of, the Abarth - a bit Fiaty, and the Indy - A bit over the top... but think that may change now that a lot more younger drivers are getting them.

Overall happier than I thought I would be with it... intend keeping mine for a good few years yet..
