I'd been looking at getting an Uno Turbo for ages, but I've been given an Uno 60 SX instead. My plan was to keep this for a while and when I've saved up some money have a turbo engine put in. Now I'm wondering, how easy would it be to stick a turbo on the current 1.1 engine?, is it a matter of just using parts from an already turboed engine or will this take a lot of custom work? Lastly, is this even worth thinking about, will it cost too much or take too much work compared to just putting in a new engine?

If anyone could answer any of these questions it would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to turn my 5 door into a right little sleeper.

If I buy an Uno turbo as a donor I may as well keep that, I was looking at doing this as I'm guessing it'd be easier to find parts than to get a whole engine and related parts. Why would it cost so much to turbo the 1.1, what would be required in doing so?

have a look on ebay, there's an uno tub ready to be done up/transplanted for a monkey. all the bits, loom, brakes, suspension, etc

as said, far easier, neater solution than trying to turbo a 1.1

and it's not a million miles away from you(y)

I'm not looking to do it for a while, I still have to get a job yet. Do they come along at that sort of price often, or cheaper perhaps?, that's probably more than my car's currently worth.

no telling, sometimes there aren't any at all for ages, then you get a glut, and the vary from peanuts to serious corn, for anything from a basket case to show cars

I guess I'll just have to wait until I have an actual source of income. Failing being able to get an engine, is it worth doing anything to the current one?, I was thinking of doing stuff for the handling anyway (lowering, anti-roll bars etc.), anything cheap to do to improve engine performance?

best to stick in uno turbo lump i have the complete conversion for sale with t28 hybrid turbo, evrything you need including suspension hubs etc etc and all the know how mate

dont bother turboing a 1.1, waste of time it'll still be slow and cost 10 times more than fitting a uno turbo engine,

drop a uno turbo lump in yours, find a donor car and swap everything over

i definately dont agree with u.
i found it very hard to get my hands on an Uno Turbo 1400 motor here is SA so i turbocharged my uno 1100.

it was quite alot of work but at the end of the day i love it.
I beg to differ.......its definately not slow.
it can be done........u just need the know how and some spare cash...

Guys also, before i turbocharged my uno 1100, i fitted a set of 4 bike carburettors on. custom built an inlet manifold and sourced the individual carbs of a suzuki 1100. had to get the jetting right but once it was set it ran beautifully.
car was very fast for a 1100. and used to rev up very high and freely.
my email is [email protected] email me should you need any tips or pics and i would be glad to assist
