Hey all, well after buying my HGT as a non runner and spending a week looking into the possibility of the Phase Sensor issues which as we know is an a**e of a job to sort, i played and played and tried to get the engine mount off then realising that the mount arm actually holds the PS pump Alternator and Air Con on the whole arm. I gave in and checked the TDC (Crank sensor) found it to be rusty and a little loose, so after cleaning it and reseating the seal and tightening up.... Hey Presto no Engine management light for two days done around 100 miles no issues and a full 12mth MOT with no advisories at all....

Job lot £325 for a HGT 155...........(y)

Its just awesome pal, landed a bute, 79k on the clock stamped service history lots of receipts and a previous lady owner so no thrashing... i will take more pick and get them up.... panels are a bit faded but im sure i can sort that out with some TLC.

Bar the wheels and a piper cross induction which now has a direct cold air feed.... its all standard.. Not doing anything else with it, no big exhaust nothing like that just need to get the panels sorted out! Any ideas what might bring them back to life????

does the pipercross kit work well with the VIS? because my brother with a 155 VIS found it was very laggy, all noise but no go. and then he reverted back to the original panel filter, took the pipe leading from the rad cover, and its got better low end torque and has the same grunt as a induction kit.

Yeah stock intake with a decent panel filter is best on the HGT - else the MAF can start to moan and it can loose torque as the intake length is tuned on the stock intake.

To be honest pal, i have never driven anything with as much power before, Lil'Red feels like she pulls right the way though to 6500rpm (A**e starts flapping then and i let go) she pulls and pulls right from setting off upto say 4500-5000rpm and then another significant increase in power im sure it will pull all the way to 7000+ before it bounces on the limiter.

The previous owner looked after her shes had a new Bosch MAF, and Lambda owners previous to her must of looked after her as well as its stamped service history and lots of receipts all keys and codes original stereo and 6cd changer(y)

I also have a 1.8 the MKII version that does not have a separate MAF i think its in the throttle body, i bolted a cone filter straight to the TB and direct cold air feed plus full system and decat that goes like stink

Good to know it lives on, shame it's not seen on BOO no more but hey ho.

Where about was the TDC sensor on it? ive not even looked into that yet?

Hi, Timing sensor (Phaser sensor) is the one behind the Cam Pulleys, but the Crank Sensor is referred to as the TDC in the Fiat Servie manual which is just above the starter motor at the back of the engine, it can be easily reached and is an alley key bolt holding it in...slide under car hand over the top over the steering rack to the left is the starter motor and just above one cable attached to the sensor remove bolt and give a twist and pull the sensor will pop out, cylinder shaped with a rubber ring seal and a magnetic dot in the center.... mine had rust on it so cleaned and replaced all sorted, T'was the crank sensor causing the engine management light to stay on and disabling the injector rail hence injector light on dash... but all sorted now... and not a penny spent to fix it.:slayer:(y)
