Technical Lighting problem

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my 500.
Bare with me it's not the easiest to explain.
Basically when the lights are on at any given time, the headlamps can go off on there own.
When the headlamps go off the dash lights dim as if the switch has turned the lights off.
The light on the dash for the headlamps stays on.
The lights can turn back on anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes If left alone.
If I turn the lights off and back on,on the switch they work again.
Its timing is random but is happening more and more.
I'm not the best at electrics but can do a bit but where to start, any ideas?

I’d start by using the search feature to find out where all earth straps/points are located and check all are good. Plenty of helpful 500 owners on here
