Technical Lexia problems

Just trying to get Lexia to read the faults on a Ulysse Eleganza but it won't communicate with the bsi, but it does communicate with the injection and ABS ecu's

Anyone know the solution? Fuse (f10?) perhaps or if anyone knows of a RPO number I can try for the car (no electric doors, sunroofs)

You could try RPO 9625, which is for a vehicle without electric doors or sun roofs.

No joy, still no communication with bsi. Maybe down to the fact Lexia doesn't auto detect the VIN number?

Can communicate with the injection system though and I've 3 error

P0380 perm fault pre post heating relay circuit short circuit to positive
P1138 perm fault fuel pressure regulator, stop requested but still active
P0110 temp fault inlet air temp signal short to + open circuit

The car won't rev past 3000rpm so maybe curing these faults will take the car out of limp mode at least.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I use Peugeot Planet 2000 on my Ulysse and select "807" as the vehicle model. When I connect the diagnostic interface to the EOBD socket on the car and switch on the ignition, it displays the Ulysse VIN automatically, even though it is in Fiat "ZFA179......" format rather than "VF3......" Peugeot format. I would have thought LEXIA would do the same if you selected "C8" as the model.

That's the problem, it does on my Prestigio but not on this Eleganza, even when you enter the VIN manually it still doesn't communicate with the bsi. It finds the injection system ecu, abs ecu and the additional heating ecu but that's all!

Remember reading somewhere about checking certain pins on the interface for voltage but can't remember which ones. Fuse 10 and 18 are fine. PO had changed wing fuse box so maybe the answer lies there?

The BSI,engine ECU, ABS ECU, Additional heating unit and Auto G/Box ECU (if fitted) all have separate 'K-Line' access to the EOBD socket so it must be the K-line from the BSI that is not communicating with your LEXIA. The Engine ECU is linked to Pin 7 of the 16 pin EOBD, ABS to Pin 12 and the BSI is linked to Pin 11 of this connector. The BSI diagnostic link emanates from the BSI on pin 7 of its EP 40 way, Black connector. (There are three 40 way connectors on the BSI coloured Grey, White and Black).

Checking continuity from the Black BSI 40 way connector to Pin 11 on the EOBD socket might give you a lead. If this is OK, the BSI itself may be the culprit.

I think you may be right Avionista, I'm suspecting the interface now, used to work on my 04 now it doesn't! I'm going to try and get an exchange to rule it out.

Latest update is that I put Lexia on an old tower running a fresh install of Windows XP. Still didn't autodetect the VIN. Plugged it into my Citroen Dispatch 06 and again no VIN detected. The difference is that on the Citroen I can enter the VIN manually and then it works.
Unfortunately with the Fiat, putting the VIN in manually is no good as it just doesn't acknowledge the ZFA179 VIN codes. So basically NO autodetect, NO getting into the BSI - or so it seems to me.

Just out of interest, can anyone else out there who has Lexia for their Fiat confirm what version of Lexia they get to work and where they bought their interface.

I got it primarily for use on my Peugeot 407 and found it also worked pretty well on my Prestigio.

Hi I have just bought my lexia kit from Jim @ easy diagnostics. I have had it connected both ways (Peugeot & Citroen). I put in the vin number & build code "10247"
This works fine for my 2.0 jtd no sunroofs or elec doors. The version is 7.26. Jim is the guy 2 buy from - excellent service.

Sadly Jim has not been so successful with mine, problems still ongoing.

The problem is that it used to auto detect the VIN on my Prestigio but now it doesn't, no codes I enter for it work either, it has since not detected any VINs on any eurovans I've plugged it into either which had prevented me coding radios and fault clearing.

Now Clicky popped around last month and his Lexia interface ( the cheaper Chinese one that easy diagnostics say are rubbish) DID find the VIN on a car that mine had failed to read.

Getting really frustrated with it now as I have tried different computers, different operating systems and different versions of Lexia.

I was having different problem on mine, Lexia would see everything except engine ecu. I changed the under bonnet fuse box with a known good one (which I still have incidentally) - no luck. Then changed all ecu, bcm, engine compartment fuse box, transponder & key from running vehicle - no luck. In the end it was the engine loom at fault - changed it & all fine ! Are you breaking one on eBay? I'm after o/s head light.

Turned out it was the interface, got one of the "cheaper Chinese ones" and I'm back in business again.

The problem for me with the one from easy diagnostics was that it wouldn't detect the VIN automatically and when entering it manually it wouldn't talk to the BSI.

Still waiting for my refund too!
