I have done this before, using the legal loop hole of booking an MOT. If you dont know this, you basically insure the car & book in the vehicle for an MOT at a station close to home. When its back, you can then cancel the MOT...

This is no longer the case as you are only allowed to drive it to the nearest available garage, had a mate caught out with this, got points on his license.

Why not get a mate with a towbar (and a trailer) to go with you when you view or view it and arrange a transporter

You'd -- in the longer term -- probably be better off getting a broker to build your own insurance. In the meantime, if the car is near me, we can probably sort something out, but it'd have to be after Xmas.

Cheers mate... its in Kent lol... Think hes taxing it for me on wednesday now, so i can happily go and collect which is a bonus... only the £500ish insurance to worry about... No idea why its so bloody expensive!
