Let's be honest it looks brilliant and I want to do it. I'm not the best with technical stuff but have researched as much as I can. I've found these two as I'm aware the number plate lights trigger a warning regardless of Canbus free or not. So can one of you clever people confirm that these will work?

This is the resistor I believe to cancel the warning lights out

And these are the actual LED's

Like I said if one of you kind people just make sure these are applicable that would be great. And for anyone who doesn't know what the bulb requirements for the bravo number plate lights then they are w5w 501 (according to a bulb site I found) thanks fiat forum.

The bulbs are wrong, they are the tiny capless ones, same as the front sidelights.

I'm not sure that LED number plate lights are a good idea. I was passed by a Range Rover with very bright number plate lights, and found them very distracting.

It is illegal to show a white light at the rear ( except when reversing of course ), so you may risk being pulled over! AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

You make a valid point but the light isn't pointing out towards other road users, instead it shines down and reflects off a yellow number plate. Don't the new audi's/bmw's/mercs etc have white led lights? I'm not starting an argument either just putting my opinions across.

Agreed.

I'm afraid I don't know. I would assume that they probably do, as that's the way things are going, However, as an OEM part, I would imagine the "bulbs" would be appropriate for the task and integral to the lamp holder.

Thinking about it, IIRC, the Range Rover was white, and the number plate is high up, so really the greatest potential for causing a nuisance. Though what is the point of a white light to illuminate a yellow plate?

On a practical point, if you do get LEDs that need load resistors to stop bulb warnings, you will need to find some way of securing and protecting them behind the bumper. Its not just like the front sidelights, laid in the light unit behind the rubbery cap.

Me too:D

Right on the iPad now so I've been able to hunt down previous invoices.

These are the CREE led units I use for number plate bulb and front sidelight bulb replacement. Had them since 28/11/2011 and still going strong :D

http://dx.com/p/t10-4w-160lm-5x5050-smd-led-car-white-light-bulbs-pair-71627

And these are the exact resistors I use with the above LEDs on my Bravo without issue from the front or rear lights. Ocassionally number plate failure will come up on precheck, but when lights turned on will go off, so I just switch them on and off quickly if this happens, but is only about once or twice a month.

That's fantastic. Thank you so much for your help. One very daft question. I will obviously need 2 of those led lights. It says 5 on that site but I'm guessing that there are 5 LED's on the one unit so I will actually need to order 2 of these?

EDIT: may I apologise for my stupidity. I swear I'm not dangerous. Just realised they're sold as a pair.
Whilst I'm here how did you secure them into the housing? Cable ties and glue? Or something much more sophisticated

Correct, 5 LEDs per unit, and they come in pairs, so buy 2 lots and you'll have enough for front side lights and rear number plate lights :)

Also will require 2 sets of resistors, one for front and one for rear, so going buy the prices of them all, £25 should get both your front side lights and rear number plate lights converted ok (y)

You're raking those "thanks" in with me tonight, I did edit my last post I'm guessing you replied before you saw it, how did you secure them in the number plate housings? Last question I promise then I shall leave you to enjoy your Christmas ha.

Is this in relation to the resistors? If so they just plug inline between the plug for a normal bulb on the cars wiring loom and the LEDs. At the rear they're just free hanging with the rest of the wiring behind the bumper (some may say open to the elements, but I'd they fail it's only another £6 to replace them, so hardly going to break the bank, and not really anything else you can do).

With the fronts I've just left them free floating in the rear of the headlamp unit :)

It was more in relation to securing the LED's in place. Though I'm jumping the gun as I haven't even looked in the light housing's yet. It will probably become very apparent once I look. Thanks for your time and help again, merry Christmas.

They just sit in place like normal bulbs, only thing you might need to do for fronts is put a small bit of insulation tape around the bulb holder iirc to bulk it out a little, as it's ever so slightly slimmer than the cars normal one and the LED will be loose otherwise, but all I'm sure will become apparent :)

Don't know how to tag a name in a post so decided to quote you to get your attention haha

So finally did this here's my before and after shot (y)

I know have a question specifically for you pal. Did you notice that the little black box attached to the resistor gets very hot? Is this a problem?

Also they look great and bright but I think they could be brighter only the light is very dirty from the inside. In all honesty it seems to be like a build up of algi on the inside of the light housing etc. can you recommend anything to clean this as I don't think you can take the lens off and as you know it's only a little hole at the top for the bulb to sit. Which would be difficult to clean.

Rather then just replacing the bulb I've brought a product that replaces the whole number plate light unit. It's plug and play but you still have to buy the resistors. All in the units and resistors cost £40 from halfrauds but the results are worth it I think (y) ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401576462.569229.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401576478.430432.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401576492.463492.jpg

Mine looks brilliant as is to be honest. And it only cost me £10.95. Light output is fantastic I just feel with cleaner lenses it would be slightly brighter, though not a major issue. Yours look extremely bright. I'm guessing it's the camera?

Here's mine close up

The photo was taken on the latest iPod.
They really do look bright in the flesh too though, when I look in the wing mirrors I can see the light output on the floor.
I brought these.ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401633721.199989.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401633732.030919.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1401633740.496212.jpg
