Just had a fairly nasty incident on the old 2300s coupe.
The head was modified for running on lead-free petrol about 8000 miles ago, and have run it on Super un-leaded since. The garage, in keeping with what looks like custom and practice in the UK, only changed the exhaust valve seats. On mine an inlet valve seat had collapsed and the bits lay on top of the piston. Fortunately I only tried to start the engine briefly and the sound of "nuts & bolts" in the head told me to switch off quick. Got away with minimal damage and costs. Anybody had any similar experiences?
