NO FREAKING WAY.
I saw a black orange 5-6" trail job (not sub5) with forks in the same paint job (quite distintive), being ridden by a 12-14yr old chav in workington, cumbria today, I went after the little bugger (in town running) not because I saw it on here, but just looked so out of place I thought i'd go confront the theiving bugger (obviously, no way a chav would have one) but they got away
just saw this thread and thought it may have been it.
did the bike nicked have shimano deore (newish ones, like 556) or xt discs (in the LX/deore square type shape?), just thats what I spotted on it. also tyres looked like the bontrager logo (large, red with white/offwhite square with the info printed on it?)
I chased them, and they realised then got away (just, i was running with a few bags of shopping). thinking that when I get them, pull brake, kid comes off, then I exclaim its my mates bike and I'll calling the fuzz.
this has worked one time for me before, with a rock lobster tig team SL a few years back when I was at school, this kid who had been expelled turned up on this bike, I went over confronted the bugger (had hold of his brakes), and he then wanted a 'fight for it', wherupon a police car pulled up (cos theres always a police car outside school at 3,15
) and he ran off.
kept the bike for a few days, then turned into a local plod stn, no one claimed it, so I got it. then eventually sold it.
