I've just bought these for my '94 Tipo 1.4 ie. from my local Motorworld. They are the recommended plugs - Champion RNYCC (Double copper)

I think they are pretty much the last of the line from the local Champion factory at Upton on the Wirral which was closed recently by Federal Mogul. I think production has moved to Belgium. (n)

I got 3 in the gold box which seem older, they say "Made in Great Britain". The red box says Federal Mogul and "Made in EU", the plug looks slightly different. The Champion brochure now recommends the RN9YC (not CC), perhaps they're discontinuing or "de-emphasising" the double copper ones.

PS don't know why the pic is so tiny, will upload again.

Anyway I'm sure most people would recommend NGK or Bosch, but I thought I'd grab a bit of local automotive history!

Sorry to say this, but Champion have now got a bad name. The plugs tend to underperform and misfire. Incidently, Unipart plugs are/were made by Champion. See how you get on, not all do it. Again, ive gone off NGK R plugs for the same reason. Everytime i buy 4 of them, one misfires. 3 lots now have done it. If i use Bosch, no problems. Another good plug is Denso. Denso pioneered a few things that currently are used on modern plugs.

To be honest, I recently fitted some Bosch Super plus or something, I got the Champions just for the hell of it, plus I've generally used them before anyway. One local motor factors was recommending some NGKs with twin electrodes, they were a bit unconventional for me so I got the Bosch. Another place I went recommended Densos, I'm quite surprised there's much difference for an older, ordinary car. Either you or your car(s) must be very sensitive!

If you have a high compression "sports" engine, multi electrodes are good, but for a tipo 1.4, single is best.
Iam in the motortrade, and the times ive fitted a set of NGK R plugs to different cars has shown a misfire. Maybe the plugs were dropped prior to sale and the ceramic damaged or something. But i stick to Bosch, Beru or Denso, which ever are cheapest!!;) I find my local Euro Car Parts the best prices for plugs. they stock most of the range, so just tell them the plug number, and they come up trumps.
