I've never fancied these, especially not on the coop. Coupe doors are REALLY heavy.

Thats because they want to keep the original tyre width but have wider rims. This way the acceleration, top speed, etc are kept the same or close to standard.

If you change the width of the tyre so that its a lot wider than what the manufacturer recommends, you will get slower acceleration, slower top speed and more stress on the drive-train (with the only advantage that it will corner better)

Anyway don't tyres come with a recommendation for the rim width (oooerr missus)?

If the tyre is stretched like that it's bound to have negative effects on grip, etc.
