Can anyone help me?

I bought my Bravo about 2 months ago, and at the time the garage told me the lambda sensor was faulty and they would replace it. Last week the engine management light came on while I was out, I've had a garage look at it and they said the system wasn't reset correctly when the new one was put in. But the light has come on again, and I was advised that should it do so, I should have the sensor changed as soon as.

Is this just a typical Fiat glitch, or am I facing something very very expensive?

Thanks:confused:

when a garage says the "system wasn't reset correctly", what they are actually saying is they dont know anything about these cars at all. when a faulty sensor is replaced on a bravo you dont need to reset anything. it happens automatically. if the fault light is on, it means there is a fault, not a stored fault, a current fault.

i dont know what model/year/milage/ car you have, or what exactly all the symptoms are. tell me the details and maybe i can help ;)

did you get a reciept for the new lambda? if you didnt i would be fairly certain that it has not been changed. have a quick look at it, a 2 month od lambda will look very new.

Thanks for coming back. :)

There are no symptoms really, I was driving to work and the light came on. The car doesn't drive any differently, it's doesn't jump or kick, starts first time every time, and I used the car yesterday and the light had gone out.

The Car I have is 51 plate Bravo 1.6 SX 100, but I don't have a receipt for the new sensor, and I'm now getting a sense of forboding was it seem's I may have been conned!

Thanks again

that is usually a sign that the lambda sensor's probe has gone out of range. its no big deal. let me guess, you have a 1.2? this happens A LOT on the 1.2 models.

my GF's mk2 punto sporting (same 1.2 engine) has been like that for years and it hasnt missed a beat yet.

Thanks again, and do you know a away to get the probe back in range? What you said has put my mind at ease, but I'd like to cure the problem if possible.

best thing to do is replace the lambda with a brand new one, but dont use a different brand to the original, or a universal one. very few garages will fit the correct lambda because they use whatever they get given by their supplier. if you go to your dealer you will get the correct oem parts. on a system as sensitive as engine management this is advisable. its hard to justify the cost if you have no running problems.

Thank you very much for all the advice, I'm very grateful. (y)
