Ok not been on here for a while but this takes place last week.

Mrs is going to work on the M6 in the Chav Rocket when the exhaust breaks and snaps at the back box, she manages to get it back home and needs to get it sorted so she can go to work, i get the text about this and reply 'do not go to kwik fit, go to budget or if you can get to work other way and leave till weekend i can get (someone we know) to put a new one on cheap'

where did she go?

Kwik fit

What did they charge for a back box on a saxo?

£107

Im not angry with her as she was panicking, couldnt phone anyone, but i think she learned a lesson.

Even at budget i was expecting £70 max, person we know could have done it for about £30.

Im angry at kwik fit because, truthfully i dont think this work should have cost this much at all, mrs didnt know any better and paid up

Phone kwik fit, ask them for a quote for a back box for a saxo, you might find they charged that cause they were dealing with a woman, if they speak to a bloke it could be a different story. If they quote £107 again say well thats funny cause i was quoted (insert your own price here) last week when i called.

Worth a try :D

I gave up on Kwik fit years ago, I can always, and I mean ALWAYS, find a better deal somewhere else. Doesn't matter whether its tyres, exhausts or insurance I can always get a better deal somewhere else. I dont know how they survive:rolleyes: You know the old Kwik fit add 'you cant get better than a Kwik fit fitter', its rubbish, if you can do it yourself thats better than a Kwik fit fitter.

must admit ive had a few 'dealings' with kwik fit.
eg my handbrake cable snapped on the way to a job interview in perth.
so i drove in to get it changed as i wasnt gonna get oily.
refused to do the work as my rear discs were dangerously worn!!!! same discs were on the car 70,000 miles later ;)
another time i was in getting a tyre and an old guy had his daughters car in and they were laying it on thick about how 'dangerous' the car was .brakes etc and quoting silly numbers.
when they went to check prices i had a word with the old guy and pointed him in the direction of a decent garage.
there handy for emergeny work but i feel for those who dont know much

The thing is they know anyone with common sense only goes in there as a last resort so they charge the earth as they now you are stuck and cant go elsewhere. I would go in and have a word, i have done this at a few places for my missus and always got some money back.

quick fit said my engine was makeing strange whisltling noises and a PSSSSSST noise. said it was my exaust leaking. stupid idiots didnt notice the huge BOOST GAGE on the pillar or the turbo timer on the dash. i wonder what was makeing the noise...... bunch of retarded nobs:rolleyes:

Cheapest I found for insurance :)

cheapest quote i can get for my alfa is with quickfit, but i'd rather pay more and go elsewhere out of prinicple. i can imagine what they would be like when it came to claiming for something.

quickfit insurance offer a free MOT. as if i'm thick enough to be fooled into taking my car there that easily. the MOT is free because you are guaranteed to fail on several hundred pounds worth. i'd rather pay for my MOT elsewhere and pass.

Jug, think about what you're saying, because they have poor technicians fitting exhausts, their insurance product must be poor?

It's an impossibility to know something like that. I wouldn't guess that Virgin Insurance must be slow at paying out because Virgin trains are often late ;)

The MOT deal is false - my nearest was a 35 mile round trip and second closest? 170 mile trip :) I complained and just got an apology, no good will gesture.

You can almost guarantee a huge MOT bill if you take their free MOT offer. How desperate does a company have to be to resort to those kind of tactics.

i'm only joking, quickfit are an insurance broker, so any insurance policy is not with them, it is underwritten by a real insurance company, such as zenith. kwikfit are just the middleman selling you someone else's insurance. i hate the idea of kwikfit getting a cut of the premium.

I've had no issues with Kwik Fit, took my car in with a free MOT, only thing wrong was the Window Wipe Blade which needed replacement and a bulb.

Had my tyres rotated there charged me £20 to do all 4 wheels, this also included fixing a slow leak.

I guess I've just had it lucky

I think it totally depends on the branch.

When i had my rover 216 i went into kwik fit for tracking to get done. They had a price guarantee on at the time. Beat anyone within 10 miles. There is a national at the back of kwik fit so i phoned them from outside kwik fit. £20 i think the quote was. So walked into kwik fit and asked how much tracking was. £25 i was told. Mentioned about national and they said they dont quote that price. Told them i'd just spoke to them on the phone. He said i would need the quote in writing. Now at this point i was getting annoyed and said why would they provide a quote for tracking in writing?

Anyways, his answer after that was staggering.

"If they are doing it for £20 go and get it there, because we are £25!"

I pointed to the deal advertised outside the garage about beating the price. He said im the manager and its my decision. I said thats false advertising. It doesnt say that on the advert. I asked for his name which he refused to give. So i turned round and said

"Ok. Im going to go and sit in my car across the road from here. When your internal phone rings, it will be someone from head office to explain to you what customer service is and what exactly you are going to do for me."

He muttered "F*ck off" as i walked away. Sat in my car told them the full story and how i was gonna inform the local newspaper (they are always looking for stories) and i was going to tell everyone i knew about the experience i'd had. Call Centre very good at dealing with complaint. Got tracking for free, apology from the manager and hes no longer the manager in there.

In comparison there is one now close to where i now live and have never had a problem with them. They always comment on how nice the coupe is and they let me watch them work and are always very careful and even checked a slow for me which turned out to be a burst tyre on a low profile and charged me nuthing. I would use them again, if i needed to.
