hi,
i want to install a kill switch on my seicento. it's an SPI sporting, 2000.
i'm using this switch: https://www.ebay.com/p/22017017042
as you can see, the switch has 3 pairs of poles: 2 main poles (the big ones, they go between the battery + terminal and everything else), 2 poles that are normally open (they close when the switch is turned off, any residual voltage/current needs to go here, through a resistor towards earth) and finally, 2 poles that are normally closed (they should cut the spark so the engine would turn off).
i'm wondering where i should connect the 3rd pair. the goal is for the engine to turn off as soon as possible. fuel pump comes to mind, but it isn't an ideal choice (since the engine will continue running until there's no more fuel in the pipes).
i thought about cutting the supply to the crank sensor, but from what i read, this signal is kind of sensitive (normally these wires have shielding) and adding a meter of (unshielded) wire could hurt.
next idea is using the wires in the ignition barrel, but i haven't had any luck here so far... according to the diagrams i find online, the big brown wire in the smaller of the two connectors should do the trick, but my master switch is somehow bypassed when the key is in the on position.
so, now i'm looking at the fusebox behind the battery; there are two fuses there that could help: "EFI" and "IGN". will the EFI fuse eliminate spark?
do you guys have any other ideas?
