Although my key will open doorlocks remotely, it wont turn manually in either door lock. Perhaps through lack of use?, Tried gentle wiggling-but wont budge.
Not urgent but might need it one day.....
Any suggestions?

Not with you. The key doesn't open the locks remotely, the remote does. Do you mean the remote on the key fob works fine for locking/unlocking the car?

Do you mean the key won't physically turn in the lock or the central locking doesn't work when you turn it

I imagine it's "the key won't physically turn in the lock" - they do seem to get gummed up after a few years of not being used.

Spraying WD40 straight into the keyhole (eg with the little tube attached to the nozzle) would probably free it in an emergency, but I've heard it said that in the long run this can make things worse when the lubricant congeals & dries.

Yes, the key wont physically turn in the lock (driver side or nearside). Been like it since I bought the car 2nd hnd about a year ago-(one thing I didnt check!) Tried wd40 some time ago, but still no sign of movement, even temporarily. Bit surprised that it affects both doors exactly the same-is there perhaps some kind of extra lock on this?
Thanks for suggestions so far!

Thanks for your reply. The door locks havent been changed as far as I know. Rear tailgate has no lock for a key-its electronic only (rather a brave design!)

There is no lock for a key on the tailgate. Should have said its a Multiwagon.
Any suggestions on fixing the door locks? A difficult /expensive job?

The previous owner may have changed the ignition lock barrel and key which may explain why your present key won't work in the original door locks.
The key just doesn't turn at all in the door locks without forcing it? As it doesn't have to turn much, mine does about 30 degrees. Want to be sure it's not just an electrical problem.

If it's locks then you'd have to change the lot including ignition barrel and new keys.

Spray WD40 actually on the key and then insert the key in the stubborn lock. Pray

no movement in the lock at all, not even a few degrees, and neither wd40 or praying helped (although to be fair I am an atheist). I've no good reason to think the locks were changed. Is there any way of checking?

The fact the key does nothing in both the front doors just sounds like it's the wrong key for the locks. I hardly ever use mine and they turn as sweet as new.

You might be able to find out work done if you have the service record

Just to conclude this saga....Unfortunately an airport car park operator lost my only working key (the one with the remote button). So in theory no-one could get in (in fact the car park company had some device which gave them access (and no crow bar marks!).
Happily my Fiat dealer found that the manual locks (both sides!) were in fact stuck-presumably through complete lack of use over the cars 5 year life. Fixed both for £116. New key with remote now on order-estimated cost over £100.
Thanks for everyones help.

Just to conclude: the new key and "fitting" came to £224!-re-imbursed by carpark operator.
