key code light

Hi all,
I posrted a while ago with this problem but its still bugging me. When I try start the car(TD100 Brava),the key code light stays on as does the glow plug light.It truns over fine but wont start.
I was told it had lost its code but I rang fiat and they said it should still start on the red key but it does'nt.I have checked all the relevant fuses but to no avail.
Looking in the repair guide on this site it says to check the battery,the thing is,just before this happened my battery buggered so I got one off a scrappy.........my question(eventually!) is will this have something to do with the light staying on????

immobiliser problem methinks. this happened to me. got it running eventually got the code read at the garage and it came up as an immobiliser prob. sometimes my key code light goes straight out. other times it does on the 3rd or fourth turn to the electrics stage. sound familiar?

It was running perfect until the problems with the battery,the battery went dead and after inspection,it was chucked.....the light always went off after just a couple of seconds.....just strange after the key specialist at local fiat garge said it would still start on the red key so I'm having doubts its lost its code....

would it maybe be worth getting out your manual with ur deactivation code in it and deactivate it until you can get a second opinion?

would this just de-activate the immobiliser?? and would it drive then?

yep have a read of ur manual. it just deactivates the immobiliser, making life hell of a lot easier. however only reason i did it on mine is cos i still have aftermarket immobiliser to fall back on. as that annoying man on tv says, you decide! lol.

looked in the manual but cant find any de-activation code?

looks like I'm gonna have to get a diagnostic on it! cheers for your ideas....
