I am planning to upgrade the stereo in my car this weekend and add an amp and sub. I want a double din stereo because I think they look better in that huge space and I am considering this one:

There are better ones out there but not within my price range, does anyone have opinions on this one or know of a better one for the same or less?

I also want an amp / sub and if it comes complete with someone who can install it that would be bonus;)

Looks good to me. I will have a proper look later and you know there is always somebody here to fit it (y)
Now the weather is a bit warmer we can do a proper job.

I also have my old amp for sale if you wanted to go second hand. (y) Not sure if i know of any decent subs but can have an ask around.

Would be interested in your amp yes. I didnt see it in the classifieds. What is the output?

(amended this as I didnt read it right the first time lol)

Head unit has been delivered and I cant get power to it. Tried the procedure for Sony head units and it still doesnt work. Any ideas please?

Switched the cables in the loom and got power to it - at least it tried to eject and the button that changes the display works - then it shut off. Eventually got it going with the ignition switched on but as soon as I started the car it shut off again. Given up and put the Visteon one back in for now as I dont have a clue:confused:

Yes, there is power, it just only works when you eject and then switches off again and when it was working fully it stopped when the car was started. Also, there are 4 wires coming from the car and 5 in the loom, the blue and white one in the loom isnt connected to anything right now, should it be?

I dont think so. Just the power from the car should go to the yellow on the head unit. Then unplug the red on the head unit and plug into the spare yellow.
You are turning it on right? With or without the keys in the ignition you should be able to press and hold the power button to turn it off and on. Most aftermarket units arent quick press like the OE unit.

Ok I switched them around so that the red from the car goes to the yellow on the head unit.

Then the black still goes to the black.

The other two Im not so sure about but I did get it to work the way they are in the pics. Just stopped as soon as I started the car.

Damien came home and figured it out, we only blew three fuses for the internal lights  Its all working now and I never want to do anything like that again. Thanks for the help Stu, much appreciated.

It was a choice of removing the bulky cage thats already in the car or removing the cage that came with the head unit which is what I did as the one in the car is better. The unit sits in there fine. I dont have the fascia plate yet, Im hoping it comes today then I will post some pics.

Ahh the Double Din i had screwed into the holes that retain the OE cage. It may have to come out. You have my phone number and i cant always be on the forum (damn work lol) so just drop me a text if you need any help (y)

Ok thanks, the fascia plate came and is secure but the unit itself slides out pretty easy, it has to come out again when the sub gets done so Im not too worried about it right now.

The remote is cute it goes on a keyring although I dont know how practical that is if you want to use it while driving:confused: But I dont tend to use them anyway.
