I need some advice on what to do with my insurance. If the car takes as long as they said it would then my current insurance will most likely have run out (it end's on the 7th July), which I hope doesnt happen as it would mean having to insure my old car again for a week or so and I don't want this to happen. Iv'e done a few comparison quotes and the provider I am with now have come out cheapest again for a new policy, but if it hasnt run out on my old car is it worth substituting my old car for the new one or.... just cancelling the old policy, say if it has a week left to run and just starting a new one?
Please help I am so confused!!!

Call your current insurer up. Come the day your car gets delivered you may just be able to swap over for an admin fee.

I would do quotes for both your existing car and your new car on a comparison website, and also on Direct Line. Having discarded companies I have never heard of that include animal names or which have "4U" in their titles, I would call up the three cheapest and find out how much they charge to swap to a new car - most will charge an admin fee but even that can vary a lot. At the same time ask them what makes them so great, and then see if they are all as good as each other.

I did a temporary insurance swop to avoid an admin fee for about a month. That was on an older car that didn't need the comprehensive cover until the insurance 'ran out'. So on the start of the new policy there was no admin fee. Hopefully someone with real knowledge of insurance will be able to advise of the downsides of this.

I've done quotes for both old and new car and the fiat is coming out at just over £100 cheaper than the car I have now so not too much difference. Both with the same provider (Diamond). I want to avoid cancelling my policy early if I can. Fingers crossed :)

Aww I bet you can't wait!! Wish I had mine now and I havn't even ordered it yet!!!! Exciting times. (y)

I just read your thread... You're so lucky just going in to the showroom and seeing the car you want and being able to pick it up in less than a week!!! I'm jealous!!
I've not even seen the colour of my car in person yet so I bloody hope I like it!

8-10 weeks is nothing, My last car was a 9 month wait.

I was saying that the other day, that I don't think I'll dare drive it because I'm so used to my old car covered in scratches and rust haha
I'm sure I'll love the colour, just a niggling doubt because I have seen it anywhere but the configurator

What colour are you going for again?

Yes I know what you mean, my little old Punto was covered in little dents and scratches, but it was my first ever car and (touch wood) I havn't had any little 'incedents' for quite some time

When I had my test drive I was freaking out enough.

I went for tech house grey :)
I got an unattended test drive where they just gave me the keys and said come back before we close... I was like "you really trust me" I was so scared!!

I've just read on the fiat website that if your car is post 60 reg you don't need the b&m adapter thats £60 but just a USB cable that's £10 is this true? If so, it makes me a lot happier! :)

You dont even need a £10 USB cable one of the 99p ipod leqads from Ebay works fine or you can just use the one that came with youre iphone/ipod/ipad. It plays music great and also charges while in the car at the same time

No need for any special leads.

IIRC the USB lead that comes with the iphone 4 is different to the earlier version e.g. the iphone 3GS so it's best to use the lead that came with the iphone.

Well that's even better! I have a spare one at home! But can I still use the controls on the steering wheel with my normal iPhone cable?

I think the only changes were to the charging pins, so while any iPod cable should work not all will charge ;)

WOOO!! My day has been made!! Salvador is at status 30... from looking on here that means he's built and waiting to be shipped right?
He's an actual machine now, not just something cute in my mind!! :D
