Just joined - need help.

Hello Friends,

I just bought a Stilo JTD.. need help with a couple of things.

1. Dials on dash reset it self at random times whilst driving... All readings go to zero and lights flutter several times ...

2. There is a hissing sound from the engine.. seems to be coming from the fuel pump/filter with 3 fuel lines in the top mid portion of the engine (under the bonnet).

3. child lock seems to be on.. Cant open back doors from inside the car.

4. Air circulation in the car is very poor , even with fan at highest speed.

any help will be much appreciated...

2. There is a hissing sound from the engine.. seems to be coming from the fuel pump/filter with 3 fuel lines in the top mid portion of the engine (under the bonnet). Check turbo pipework for splits / tightness.

3. child lock seems to be on.. Cant open back doors from inside the car. Cant help here.
4. Air circulation in the car is very poor , even with fan at highest speed.
Change the Pollen filter, sounds like the car has been a bit neglected Service wise.
any help will be much appreciated...

1. I have changed the pollen filter, air flow seems to be better now.
2. I found the answer to the child lock as well. The key turns a knob under the locks in the door. Did the trick.

3. Checked on the connections mentioned - Seems to be ok. hissing sound has stopped.

4. Tightened the battery terminals.
I HAVE NOTICED ONE OF THE EARTH CONNECTIONS BROKEN - One of the black earth connections completely snapped. Is there a way i can replace this connector.

5. I live in Enfield- London , is there a place nearby i can take this car for a good inexpensive service?

I HAVE NOTICED ONE OF THE EARTH CONNECTIONS BROKEN - One of the black earth connections completely snapped. Is there a way i can replace this connector.

Yes, they can be bought easily from Halfords or similar, prepare the wire & solder on a new connector, then if necessary attach to a good earth point, or make a new one for it.

Hey mate

I believe the child locks are turned off by flicking a plastic switch on the closing edge of the door. hard to explain exactly, but every 5 door car I have ever seen has the child lock switch in the same place.

With regards to a good garage in Enfield, I have used Scoffields in Lincoln Road for years and never had any trouble.
