Hi guys - just got a 2003 Stilo with the 1.9 diesel engine.
However, it has a bad smoking habit and nicorette ain't helping!
Basically, it starts OK, then accelerating between 1200rpm and about 2500rpm it belches black smoke. The car lacks power and I suspect it is a MAF and EGR issue - based on my experience with VW transporters.
I've disconnected the MAF and it's made no difference. There also isn't a jubilee/hose clip on the MAF connecting it to the inlet manifold.
Does this sound like the MAF needs replacing? Don't really want to go buy one and find it's not the fault...
