Think lots of others were around the £300 mark when I was lookin about a month ago.

Currently paying £650 :bang: through Norwich not very happy union

I'll prob go with Adrian flux though because although no mods at the moment I am planning on a few.

I've decided to with these as they are beating renewal by loads. Will see what they say once I pay. It includes break down cover also and have stereo equipment covered to £750 which will just about cover it all

8 points? You're lucky to get insured for around £2000 with that many points by 22 and only 1 year NCD.

Adrian Flux - £600 for the Sedici all mods declared :slayer:

The site wasn't bad quote but nothing special for the Marea.

I got a quote for £1934 with 9 points 20 years old and no NCB.

Wasn't convinced by this site so have sent some emails, they'll explain my meaning..

this one is the Financial Services Compensation Scheme(FSCS)
Hello

I am considering purchasing car insurance from an online company called ecar insurance. They claim they are registered with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), and your site indicates I can check this at the FSA register. I have done so but they are not listed. I have also tried the name of their parent company (based in Gibraltar) but that doesn't come up either, perhaps because of a lack of postcode.
Does this mean they are not members? Or am I missing something?
I'm a little concerned that as they are registered in Gibraltar this may
affect any future claim I may need to make.
Can you help me with any further information?

Many thanks,
Mr Chris Williams.

and this one is to ecar insurance themselves
Hello

I am interested in using your service, your prices seem very copmpetative.
I have checked to see if your company 'ecar insurance' is registered with
the FSA Register at http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/ and it is not.
In the letter from your MD on your website 'About eCar' he claims that
Southern Rock (parent comapny) is a member of the Financial Services
Compensation Scheme (FSCS), and it may well be. However, following the
link to http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/FAQs/ it leads you to the register
at the FSA and I cannot find either company name listed there.
I also note your company is registered in Gibraltar - does this affect
your liability and cover.
I would appreciate your feedback/comments.

Regards,
Mr Chris Williams.

I'll update you when they respond.

Right got a email back from ecarinsurance, and i'm still not convinced.

Now as far as i can tell that first statement is just a lie, i have searched the FSA site and cannot find any reference to ecar or Southern Rock Insurance which they are apparently a part of.
the second link however does check out but again nowhere mentions ecar.
I have got a couple of weeks till i need to renew my insurance so trying to get to bottom of this before then cause it is cheap!! I'll wait and see what the FSCS have to say about it.

all my policy documents have come through and i have no reason to doubt any of them

this comes up when i search for that ref no

I changed my insurance company to these.

Unfortuneatly a previous accident has been settled so i lost one years no claims......but still worked out 150 cheaper even after this small blip (y)

It also comes in a lovely wallet style pack so you can keep all your documents handy and together. (y)

A style pack my two previous insurance companies didnt think of providing, instead giving a bundle of letters instead (n)

We tested these out for my lil sister and it made no difference to the price changing it from full UK licence to provisional one

Yeah I've just discovered these while looking to go for my first insurance policy in my own name... my housemate is insured through them. My previous best quote (Quinn) was £908 with 1 year driving licence, 0 no claims bonus but 1 year's named driver insurance (these are the only ones that i've seen do this).

Figured this was a good quote (especially for Northern Ireland) but ecar comes up as £595! (Third party fire & theft, 1994 Fiat Uno 1.0)

This seems a crazy difference.... I'll find out what my housemate actually says about them tomorrow, I think he's been with them for a while anyway....

Must say, it was nice to see this FF thread come up in Google results when trying to find out more about them ;)
