Hello Everyone,Today i have just bought my 2nd Fiat (1st Stilo) its a 02 plate 2.4 20V Abarth 5dr.I dont really know much about Fiats nor the stilo and i am looking for some advise. The car i have just bought has semi auto (paddle shift) gear box. However i dont know if this is the way the gear box is supse to be on the stilo or its just my car in particular. But when changing gear it seem quite slow in response with the paddle shift and also when chaging gear it feels very jerky, is this normal? Also is there any TV tuners that can be used with the screen? and are there any update on the map cd (or are they dvd)? Also any things i should check out on the car (common faults)?oh and how come only one set and a table tray ? any reason for this?ThanksGrant</p>

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your choice of a 5 door Abarth! (y)

The gear change speed is dependent on the amount of accelerator deviation... the more gas you give it, the quicker the gear change will be(y) As for the jerkiness of it, it takes a bit of getting used to and you can help it by easing off the gas on gear changes between 1st and 2nd. If you get any sort of kangarooing (quite common on the Selespeed), do a search for it on here and you'll get some good tips on how possibly to cure it.

Again, congrats and good luck! :slayer:

Thanks for that ill give it a go..a couple of other quick Qsshould there be only 2 table tray in the car? (on back of passnger seatcan you get a tvtuner for the screen in the car?also is there a upgrade disc for nav?if there is a cd changer where would it go? or do u have to use the front loader on the screen unit where the nav dics goes (would that mean u cn only listen to a cd OR use nav)? Also when driving the car home i had an icon come up on the drivers dash display with Oil lights.. (looked like level and heat) i pooed myself and pulled over to the hard sholder of the M6. i checked oil level looked ok.. after reading the book it looks like it a feature where u can display oil settings so my question is.. WOuld this be what that was? if there is a tru oil problem what warning would u get? and if i do put that oil check display on is it accurate in terns of the graph (little bars) moving up n down dpending if oil is low or to hot?ThanksGrant

Hi Grant, Welcome to the FF.

I believe all the Stilos that that had the table only had one on the back of the left front seat.

I've not heard of a commercialy available TV adaptor for the Stilo Connect Nav+ system but I have seen some imformation in German for making a video adaptor. It involves fabricating an interface and opening the CN+ to solder wires inside it. You'd need to be quite brave to go down that road.

The standard CD changer (Blaupunkt IDC-A09) goes in the top glove box with a new purpose made liner. Without the changer, you can only have a music CD or the Sat- Nav CD in the CN+. There are a few units available that will connect directly with the CN+ to enable you to play MP3s on a memory card or connect an iPod to it.

i've got a cd changer that came out of my abarth before i sold it, i've got insert too, and if youre close enough to me i can fit it for you(y)
send a pm if youre interested

welcome and congrats mate! :yay:

i thought all you CN guys knew this by now. plot your nav course then eject the nav cd. it'll panic a bit , just say yes then it'll take a few minutes to copy the route to internal memory and spit out the disc. it'll even copy all the immediate alternative routes should you take a wrong turn  woohoo you can now use the cd player with any disc and have the nav working at the same time!

beware it does tend to forget the route it copied  so keep the map disc handy.

who ever said the CN was rubbish??!!

search for the rest of your questions, its all here (y)

Tried that with mine when I first got it Oz. Only had to go slightly off course and it didn't want to play any more.

I've got a LoudLink in the car now just so I can play MP3s on a SD card and leave the Sat-Nav disc in permanently.

that cd swap tricks sound like a plan for now until i get a cd changer.can anyone help with my oil display query as would like to know before i take the car out again..

i had a 5 door abarth last year, good car bar the fuel consumption...
selespeed is jerky compared to a normal auto, but is common for this type of system.
map updates are availble, through forum / well known online auction houses...
early cars were very well specified, try the upper glove box for your changer, would be surprised if not fitted. (above the regular glovebox, the panel lifts upwards).
the front passenger seat folds flat forwards - the tray table doubles up as protection / loadsurface. it is indeed absent from the rear of drivers seat.

thanks for that dibbers i will go have a look.can you help me on the oil issue i had.. it is just the menu option that came up?what display would you see if you do have any oil problems?thanksGrant

jsut checked no cd changer.is there a cheap ipod aaptor option i could get?i dont have a lot of ££ to spend nowalso is there a way to tell what service car is due and how overdue it is.. as computer tell me car is overdue and i have NO service history with car.

The display shows you the oil pressure (left) and oil temperature (right). These are NOT indications of your oil level and you MUST check your oil on the dipstick religously.

The Abarth gets through oil at a rate of 1 ltr every 1K miles, so not checking will lead to oil starvation and a fooked engine. Relying on the oil pressure warning to warn you about low oil level will be wayyyyyyy too late for your engine (y)

I've done 1500miles and the dipstick shows about the same level as the before.

I also drive in low revs all the time... maybe thats why the consumption is low.

Welcome to the Forum.
I bought a 3 Door 2.4 for my daughter a couple of weeks ago and I have only driven it once, that was for the MOT, The Gear change seems to be exactly the same as yours, a slight delay, The car failed on Headlight problems one too High the other too low, not bad for an Auction car, anyway when I was taking it for the re-test my daughter drove it and I noticed there was No delay with the box I asked her did she feel the delay, she said when she first drove it she noticed it but she sussed out what the approx revs were when the gears changed and compensated by either lifting off the gas or pressing the pedal a bit harder, But she loves it, I told her I got a judder when taking off and did she get the same, all she said was YES if I drive like a Pensioner:eek:
