Can get one for £800 in excellent condition, CD player fitted SUB and alloys everthing else standard.
Dunno if thats cheap but ithink its alright

Any car which is cheap to insure which is in excelent condition and has low milage is worth £750 how ever old it is.
Trouble is most old cars are not in excelent condition + have high milage.
Ten years old car , condition is everything.
Worth noting there are 03 reg puntos avalable for £1300. does that give perspective?

Of course, the other perspective is is it trade, is it private..........
Depends where you live if you go far out of your way to buy a car then yes you can get 03 plates for £1300.
But where i live 02 plate PUNTO no alloys, no CD, ripped seats, keyed on every panel and no roof liner, 160k miles was selling for £1600 and got sold.

Its from a trade dealer the one i been looking at for £1500 in middleton near manchester
I'd say it's £300 OTT, but it'll probably sell, all the same. Go for a year's MOT, full tank of petrol, decent make tyres, etc.

Be patient. If you want a specific model/colour say a yellow sporting then your limiting yourself and probably pay more but otherwise a cheap car will apear.
If your in the market for a car under £1500 then you need to go private.
Whats advertised by the trade for £1500 cost them £900
Notice the scappage incentive has played havoc with old car prices, the supply of 10 year old cars has much reduced, there are fewer cars available.,
If you want a punto best look for an 02 plate that wont qualify for scrappage,
buy private, keep £250 back you saved more than that buying private and if necessary spend that on getting everything right. See what prices they are national on autotrader, but search in local papers , piston heads and all the free sites no one ever looks at. Be prepared to travel 20 miles to look at a car,
Once bought - Change plugs, filters and stuff wont cost much and if you dont need to spend anything else then you can spend on a sub , and new head unit.
Dont blow £900 on alloys for a car worth little more.

lol no matter how much id like to put a sub n etc in it, i use the car for work and a baby due in march so don't think I'll be doing that. Only I need a car soon because i just had my w reg punto written off by a dips**t. and my 02 plate punto which I'm having to use atm is on it's way out any moment now. I use the car for work 7 days a week 80+ miles per day, so the low milage is ideal really

Just had a look nationwide on autotrader, not really anything much better. and ebay seems to only be spares and repairs

Thats not bad. Anyway went to see the car yesterday, changed my mind about it after all the things, it had empty tank, no tax, rusty coolant pipe, oil leaking from rocker cover, wasn't 100% about the clutch either. Plus £200 more on insurance. Decided its not worth it went to get the deposit i left which was just to have 1st choice on the car as others were interested. Soon as I said that the guy came out lke whats wrong with the car (vitually shouting), revving the ******** off it sayin look its a good car, said nope i want my deposit, refused to pay it and then went into the office and really started kicking off. 3 of em in the room calling me all the names you could think of. Brought my dad as he was giving me a lift (doesnt know anything about cars) started all calling him and shouting soon as he said anything, so I got pissed off and gave as good as i got. Eventually only got a cheque so hoping it won't bounce now.
