JTD100 vs TD100

I've just bought my 3rd bravo a 2001 JTD100 HLX, replacing my T reg TD100 and the N reg 1.4sx before that.

I have noticed that the JTD is noticeably slower, less revvy, less turbo kick than my old TD.
Should there be this much difference between them?
The previous one had been messed with a bit, someone had replaced the fuel pump and filter, and airfilter, but that shouldnt cause that much difference should it?

Also the clutch pedal on the JTD is pretty heavy and the biting point very low and sudden, does this mean the clutch is on the way out?

Cheers

I`d say something is wrong with your jtd :(

Change the oil, oil filter, air filter, diesel filter and see.
Plus it could be the MAF is due for a change and the clutch may be slipping and also on the way to go.

It wasn't the recent broom yellow JTD on Ebay was it? If so i went to buy that car almost a year ago. Its got loads of faults with it. To be honest the Yellow colour is the only good thing about it. So please tell me its another JTD.

When i went to buy it, it had 30K or so on the clock, she told me it was less as it had been replaced.

The car seemed plague with electric faults too.

The passengers seat was knackered.

The heated seats where tempermental if at all worked.

Besides all the bodywork dents, obvious big ass female owner. The car was marked badly. The black trim on the doors near the window had stains on it from greasy fingers and make up. Bumper or bonnet was flaking on the front

The car didn't feel right when i drove it, pop'd the hood looked around and i couldn't tell anything was wrong. Besides the car not being very well looked after. My friend who is a mechanic told had a look all over and told me it may have several faults which could be possible causes and told me to walk away due to the costs. I cant remember now what, but if he can remember a year back i'll let you know.

Did you buy that car then? If so how much?

In std form the TD feels alot quicker than the JTD as indeed it is on paper. But with the JTD remapped the tables are reversed.

Been in both the TD is nothing like the JTD. The JTD is very smooth and goes like stink. In standard tune. I suggest the MAF is cleaned if you think its the same.

I experienced exactly same as this poster has with his TD then JTD. JTD in std tune is disappointing. Performance tables of Diesel car show JTD is 0.8 sec slower 0-60mph. TD has a bigger turbo.

I also had a TD100 that had so many problems, but it still went link stink. :) :) :) :)

I test drove a JTD not so long after that, and it sucked power wise.

the JTD does more MPG tho...

I would say tho.. if you aren't thinking of a re-map the 100TD is exceptable for the price saving.

The new JTD re-map tho, is lovely. less BHP than the old map, but the tourque curve is far better and constant!

The TD100 can get a power box module. Cost approx £250, cheaper than a remap gives you approx 25BHP more and 25% more torque.

Also you can sell the box after and return some money on it where a remap you cant sell on.

I regret getting rid of my TD. It gave a lot of fun for not much £ and was totally reliable. The Achilles heal of the JTD unlike the TD is the clutch. My TD gave much the same economy around 50mpg.

Diesels are getting better almost by the day now. The new Renault Megan 2litre dci has 150bhp and makes it to 60mph in 8.4 secs.
