Well ive just had a new valeo clutch but still think it cant handle the power. Whats your news matey?

Stu

there's about as much chance of getting an uprated clutch as Engerland winning the Ashes

Stu

have you got any tip as to whats the best road to go down when tunning the JTD?

any advise would be graet

cheers

scotty.

Well i cant personally tune my own!!!

But if you are talking about gettin 0-60@s once tuned, a flat straight road will give the most accurate results!

STU
i asked if you had any tips for tunning A JTD,EG remap, chip,IND exetera.

not sure what reply is about.

Ah right...c'mon:

have you got any tip as to whats the best road to go down when tunning the JTD?

that could easily be taken for... which road do i drive down to tune my jtd but sorry for my daftness!!

I would go for remap which is basically just the same as chipping. Best bet would be to get a custom remap. In addition to that an air filter / induction kit will help. Bear in mind the more you tune the diesel the more the MPG will go down.

STu

The best thing to do is, remap it to 130BHP. Thats the safest map to have and the clutch will handle it.

Afterall remaps are only supposed to give you an additional 30% more power. 150BHP remaps are pushing it.

Plus there are no uprated JTD clutches unless Tommy K has found one.

If you have tommy let me know i'll be the guniea pig and i will tune the car even more. LOL. :) :)

one is a fast road clutch good for the 150map

i tommy, i am looking at getting a remap after my service and cambelt change, could you send me details of where to get the cluches

my e-mail is [email protected]

also you say the paddle would handle the 150 bhp remap, but would the rest or the car?

Hmm.. they both seem to have the same pressure plate.

The clutch plate itself is only half the story. You could alter a stock clutch to give more pressure.

yeah tom.. after speaking to about 3 companies it's more apparent the Fly Wheel is also an issue and the clutch plate might "wobble" causing judder as the power comes in, in a huge lump!!!

Any info on cost and where from Tommy? Flywheel can be bought at a £500 i think or you can have it flatten. This will prevent any juddering.

Are those pictures generic? As the JTD clutch doesn't have the springs on it.

a paddle clutches for road car applications don't last 2 minutes. you cannot slip them.

how about the alfa 147 JTD M Jet clutch which can handle 150bhp std. get the flywheel as well if need be.

Last I heard on the subject the flywheel was the problem. Some of the JTD variants have the dual mass fly to reduce vibration - this might need machining to accomodate the uprated part.
A new fly would do it but then the value for money of a remap drops if you need a clutch and fly fitting on top. I'm sure that would ask some serious questions of the gear box too.
